Recruit Fosse Park is The Crown Estate’s free recruitment and training initiative. Within the first three years, over 450 people found employment at a Crown Estate destination through the Recruit Regional programme. The programme provides tailored support for jobseekers and those with barriers to employment in order to help them develop the skills and confidence they need to succeed.
We work closely with The Department for Work and Pensions and local businesses to understand their recruitment processes, challenges and needs to design a free, bespoke skills and training programme for local jobseekers to meet those challenges
Part of the Recruit Fosse Park programme has included apprenticeships during the development phase. A good example of this has worked well at Fosse Park, where local trainee Louis was taken on by Caxton Builders, a supply chain partner of the lead contractor developing Fosse Park West extension. Here’s his story:
Louis was referred to the Employment and Skills Team (EST) Coordinator at Blaby District Council by the Careers Advice team at Leicestershire County Council. He had started a brickwork course at college but really wanted an apprenticeship with a day release to college. The EST Coordinator engaged with our Recruit Fosse Workplace Coordinator to source a work experience placement for Louis which was effectively a work trial with Caxton Builders.
Louis said of his experience: “I have found my apprenticeship a very positive one and have gained lots of knowledge in brickwork. Caxton Builders have given me a great opportunity and been very supportive whilst working for them. The apprenticeship has given me a great start and I’m looking forward to what the future holds for me as a qualified tradesmen.”
